Change a Clutch Master Cylinder in a Corolla

Removal

  • Step 1

    Disconnect the car battery's negative cable.

  • Step 2

    Remove the knee bolster on the driver's side by Elimination its screws. disconnection the stem pusher from the top of the clutch pedal by unclipping and Elimination the clevis pin.

  • Step 3

    Siphon out as much brake fluid of the brake master Roll reservoir as you can use an unutilised syringe, turkey baster or other type of siphon tool. attach the fluid food hose to the clutch Roll and To detach the pipe from the reservoir.

  • Step 4

    Remove the brake master cylinder. disconnection the brake lines of the Roll with a Rocket nut wrench, cover or catch the openings with plastic bags or caps, to remove the nuts to connect itself the Roll to the power Engine and to remove it of its studs.

  • Step 5

    Remove the power brake booster. to remove the air filter housing, disconnection the vacuum pipe from the booster, disconnection the brake lines and Cruising control actuator, to remove the nuts and Discs holding the Engine to the wall fire resistant and slide it off its studs.

  • Step 6

    Disconnect the hydraulics line at the clutch master Roll using a Rocket nut key on the line's fitting. to have rags loan to hook fluid that drainages out.

  • Step 7

    Remove the nuts that attaches the Roll to the firewall; range underneath the indent to access the nuts. Try to to avoid spilling fluid as you to remove the master cylinder.

  • Installation

  • Step 1

    Position the replacement master Roll on the wall fire resistant and to install the Support nuts, tightening they with just your fingers for now.

  • Step 2

    Connect the hydraulics line to the master cylinder. movement the cylinder's position slightly as Necessary to correctly thread the line's adjustment into the bore.

  • Step 3

    Tighten the hydraulics line and Support nuts firmly and To connect the stem pusher to the clutch pedal with its clevis pin.

  • Step 4

    Re-install the power brake Engine and brake master cylinder, then To connect the clutch fluid food line to the brake fluid reservoir. You would have bench-bleed the master Roll before installation it.

  • Step 5

    Fill the Tank with DOT 3 brake fluid and Purge the clutch system as described in section 3. Purge the complete brake system as well.

  • Bleeding the Clutch

  • Step 1

    Raise the car and support it on jack stands. To place the release Roll on the left side of the clutch housing and the Resistance of escape valve above the adjustment for the hydraulics fluid line.

  • Step 2

    Take the dust cap off the Resistance of escape valve and place a length of free space tubing on the valve. Submerge the hose's other end in two inches of fluid in a container.

  • Step 3

    Open the Resistance of escape valve as a in the second place person pushed the clutch pedal. to look at for air bubbles in the pipe and/or container, then end the valve and to have the other nobody release the pedal when the fluid stops flowing.

  • Step 4

    Repeat stage 3 until a full stream of fluid come out the hose, manufacture sure the master cylinder's fluid level doesn't drop too far. To replace the dust cap, inferior the car and top off the master Roll reservoir.
