Create a Column Chart in Microsoft Excel

  • Step 1

    Enter labels for the data in column A. For example, to diagram student grades, column A be the names of the students; column A be heading "Students."

  • Step 2

    Enter the data Close to the labels. For example, each one row with a student name have a category beside it; column B be heading "Grades."

    Place the cursor far from the data to to ensure that the column diagram does not cover the data.

  • Step 4

    Go to the "Insert" tab and click on the downwards arrow under "Column." chosen the initially column provision option under "2-D Column"; the column diagram layout is have right "Clustered Column."

  • Step 5

    Click on "Select Data." Click on the Place beside the "Chart data range" box. culminating point the data. The "x" (horizontal) center is the column labels. The "y" center is the data. Click "OK."
