Make Layered Taco Casserole

  • Step 1


    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 13x9x2 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.





  • Step 2


    In a large skillet, crumble and brown ground beef or turkey until no longer pink; adding the onion during the last few minutes. Drain excess grease.

    Add the taco seasoning mix and tomato sauce. Set aside.





  • Step 4


    Combine the sour cream and cottage cheese. Set aside.





  • Step 5


    Spread half of the crushed chips in the bottom of baking dish. Top with half of the meat mixture, half the cottage cheese mixture and half the cheese.





  • Step 6


    Repeat with crushed chips, meat and cottage cheese mixture. Reserve remaining shredded cheese.





  • Step 7


    Bake uncovered for 25 minutes. Top with remaining shredded cheese and bake 5 to 10 minutes longer.





  • Step 8


    Serve taco casserole with toppings of your choice.
