Step 1
Cut 1.5 pounds of beef into 1.5" pieces and set aside.
Step 2
Dice 5 slices of cooked bacon and put into a large cooking pot. Cook slowly, and turn frequently until bacon is cooked. Remove bacon from pot with a slotted spoon and place in a small bowl. Set bacon aside.
Step 3
Add to the fat in the large cooking pot: 1.5 cups of chopped onions. Cook over medium heat until onions look golden. Remove onions from pot with a slotted spoon and add to bowl with bacon.
Step 4
Add the beef to the cooking pot and brown on all sides. Next add the following ingredients to the cooking pot: 1 tablespoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon marjoram. Stir.
Step 5
Add to the cooking pot: 1/2 cup of chopped fresh green pepper. Continue cooking for 5 minutes. Slowly pour into the pot 2 cups of beef broth, also add to the pot 1 cup of white wine. Bring pot to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 2 hours or until meat is cooked.
Step 6
Remove meat from pot and place on a serving dish. In a small container with lid add: 1/2 cup water and slowly add 1/4 cup flour. With lid on jar shake until flour and water are mixed. Slowly pour the flour and water mixture into the large pot. Bring pot to a boil. Cook 3-5 minutes.
Step 7
Melt in a small skillet 1 tablespoon of butter. Add 1/2 teaspoon paprika. Stir in 1 tablespoon of water. Add this butter mixture to the cooking pot. Blend well.
Step 8
Pour this sauce over the meat.
